When I wrote A Big Change Happened, one of the occasions I had in mind was children facing changes caused by domestic abuse.
Leaving an unsafe home can be one of the most frightening and confusing moments in a child’s life. This story was written to give parents, counselors, and helpers a gentle way to talk about those changes—to assure children that leaving danger is not abandonment, but protection.
Wallace the Whale’s journey reminds little ones that even when life feels uncertain, God’s love travels with them. He sees, surrounds, and shapes their stories with tender care.
In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I wanted to share a few ways A Big Change Happened can help children process big changes with safety, truth, and hope. 💜

The GIG Virtual Summit features 26 interviews with several parents, pastors, counselors, and professors (yours truly included!) sharing in a brief 10-15 minute interview some of the joys and struggles of parenting their kids.

Each interview features honest questions as well as practical counsel about how to help our kids and teens build their identity in Christ.
