New Children's Book on Change

Dear Friend,

As a parent, I’ve walked my three children through more change than I ever imagined we would face.

Some of those changes were exciting — new homes, fresh starts, adventures in unfamiliar places. But others were harder — the quiet sadness of leaving friends behind, the anxiety of walking into a new activity where no one knows your name.

Every move, every transition, required not just packing boxes, but also shepherding tender hearts.

And as a counselor, I’ve seen the same story unfold in countless families — change comes in many forms: a new sibling, a shift in routine, a divorce, a loss, or even a beloved teacher moving away. Each one stirs questions, fears, and emotions that children often lack the words to express.

Over the years, I’ve sat across from parents who ask the same question I’ve whispered in my prayers:

“How do I help my child when life feels uncertain?”

That’s why I’ve created a picture book — one designed to help you talk with your children about change, whatever form it takes. A Big Change Happened helps young children navigate life’s transitions through the comforting truths of Psalm 139. Through the story of Wallace the whale, kids are gently reminded that no matter where they go or how life changes, God’s love and presence never leave them.

Whether your child is starting a new school, facing the ripple effects of a significant family change, or adjusting to something small but important in their world, this resource is designed to help you walk with them, not rush them past the challenging parts.

I’d love for you to have it — you can PREORDER it here:

From one parent to another, I know how much courage it takes to help our children face the unknown. My prayer is that this tool will make that journey a little gentler, and remind you that you’re not walking it alone.

His love endures,

Darby

P.S. I’d love to hear how this resource serves your family — feel free share your story on Facebook and tag me.
